1 Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.2 There were no apologies.
2 Services for care experienced children: exploring radical reform - evidence session 9
2.1 The Committee heard evidence from the British Association of Social Workers.
2.2 They agreed to provide the following information:
- Further information on the project to support overseas-qualified social workers to take up posts.
- Analysis of the 2022 annual survey results including an overview of the responses from Welsh social workers specifically.
- Comment on the dual role that social workers
play when there are child protection concerns regarding the child
of a care experienced parent (that of having a safeguarding role
for a child - at the same time as being a corporate parent to a
care experienced birth mother).
3 Services for care experienced children: exploring radical reform - evidence session 10
3.1 The Committee heard evidence from Barnardo’s Cymru, GISDA and Llamau.
3.2 Barnardo’s Cymru agreed to provide
the Committee with further information on the work they are doing
on the youth homeless prevention service in Swansea.

4.1 The Committee heard evidence from the
Wales Financial Education Forum and the Citizens Advice, England
and Wales.

5.1 The Committee heard evidence from the CLASS Cymru network and Universities Wales.

6.1 The papers were noted.
7 Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of this meeting and for item 1 on 9 March
